FAQ - Coyote Kids Nature Camp

  1. When does summer camp registration open? 
    • Registration for all 9 weeks of camp opens March 4, 2024, at 8am.

  2. Is there a registration deadline?
    • Registration closes when the selected session is full or one week before the start of the session, whichever comes first. We recommend registering as soon as possible to save your child’s spot! 
  3. What if the week I want to register for is full?
    • We highly recommend joining our waitlist. As individuals finalize their summer plans, spots may become available, and we'll promptly send you an invitation to enroll via email. Please triple-check that the email address you provide is accurate to ensure you don't miss an opportunity to enroll!
  4. How much is it to enroll one child? 
    • $225 per child per week. The 10% sibling discount will automatically apply with 2 or more children when registered in the same weeks on the same receipt. Payment is due at the time of registration.
  5. What is the cancelation/refund policy?        
    • Refund requests must be received by 5pm 14 days prior to the beginning of the camp session. A $20 administration fee will be applied to any withdrawals/transfer/refund requests. No refunds will be given if a refund request is received after the deadline.
  6. What are the hours of operation?
    • Camp runs from 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday. Extended care is available for an additional $25 per child per week. Extended care begins at 7:30am and is available until 5:30pm.
  7. Where is the program located? 
    • Coyote Kids Nature Camp is located within the 130 acres of Dripping Springs Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Drive, DSTX 78620. 
  8. What will my child(ren) be doing at camp?
    • Coyote Kids Nature Camp provides the opportunity for campers to develop lifelong skills through a diverse range of nature education, outdoor recreation, and creative activities indoors and outdoors.  With a unique theme each week, we ensure a dynamic and thrilling summer for your camper(s). Our camp focuses on introducing youths to the outdoors and educating them on conservation, biodynamics, food chains, and more. Dripping Springs Ranch Park is the ideal Texas Hill Country setting for our amazing day camp. The 'Coyote Den' room serves as a haven from the heat, offering a space for campers and staff to gather for main pack assembly, listen to guest speakers, and participate in group activities, along with various indoor creative pursuits. Each week, campers can anticipate a delightful rotation of activities, including archery, refreshing swims at Founders Park, games of kickball, trail exploration, and a movie on Friday to cap off the week.
  9. What are the weekly themes? 
  10. Is early pick-up an option?    
    • We do not allow parents to pick up their children at locations other than Ranch Park. Advanced arrangements must be made for early pick-up, email camp@cityofdrippingsprings.com to coordinate. 
  11. What payment methods are accepted?
    • Registration is done online through CivicRec, and payment is due at time of registration. We accept all major credit cards. 
  12. What if I registered my child for the wrong week? 
    • Transfer requests must be received by 5pm 14 days prior to the beginning of the camp session Email camp@cityofdrippingsprings.com. We are happy to accommodate transfer requests only if the requested session is not at capacity.  A $20 administration fee will be applied to any transfer requests. 
  13. How are allergies or special medical needs addressed?
    • Information regarding allergies and medication will be collected at registration. That information is then given to Counselors to ensure your child is safe from potential allergens. If an activity involves an allergen your child will be given different materials or an alternate activity. 
  14. What are the age requirements?
    • Children attending must be between the ages of 6 and 11 years old. The earliest a child can attend is the week of their 6th birthday and the latest they can attend is the week of their 12th birthday. If we suspect your child is under the age of 6, we will ask to see physical proof of their birth certificate. 
  15. Does my child need to be potty trained?
    • Yes, your child must be potty trained to attend Coyote Kids Nature Camp. We are not a licensed childcare facility and camp staff are not allowed/trained to assist children in the restroom. If an accident occurs Parents/guardians will be promptly notified. After the second accident, we will ask for the participant to be picked up from Camp. Depending on the circumstances, the child may not be allowed to return for the remainder of the session/season, without refund. 
  16. Do campers go on field trips? 
    • Campers ages 6 - 8 will visit Founders Memorial Pool Monday and Wednesday. 
    • Campers ages 9 - 11 will visit Founders Memorial Pool Tuesday and Thursday. 
  17. Do campers need to know how to swim?
    • No, campers do not need to know how to swim. Upon arrival at Founders Pool, campers will take a lifeguard administered swim test. It will be determined then if they need to remain in the shallow end of the pool. Life jackets will be available upon request. 
  18. Will camp staff help my child reapply sunscreen?    
    • Camp staff will only assist in applying aerosol type sunscreen and bug repellant. We will not be able to assist those with lotion sunscreen. Please send your child aerosol sunscreen, labeled with their name.
